IEEE Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality 2025 – XRStandards Workshop

IEEE Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR) is the most highly regarded annual event for academic and corporate researchers in the fields of Mixed and Augmented Reality. Peer-reviewed ISMAR papers published in the conference proceedings are considered the pinnacle of research methods and results in the field. ISMAR2025 was no exception.

In the context of the ISMAR XRStandards Workshop, Christine Perey presented about metaverse standards.

Her presentation began with an overview of the ViWISSO Standards Landscape Report that was published by the ETSI AR Framework Industry Specification Group.

The results of the standards landscape project was followed by an introduction to the Metaverse Standards Forum. It was emphasized that the purpose of the Forum is to coordinate and support the work of Standards Development Organizations that have working groups creating interoperability standards relevant to the metaverse. Since the workshop participants were researchers, information about the purpose and processes of the Forum Labs Initiative followed.
