Special SDO Session – Towards Interoperable Anchoring for XR

The Metaverse Standards Forum organized Special SDO Session invites Forum members and Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) to present relevant ongoing or completed work to the MSF and the public.
Towards Interoperable Anchoring for XR
Augmented Reality (AR) registers AR assets in 3D with the real world in real-time. To achieve this, an AR system estimates the 3D transform of the AR device in relation to the real-world objects, or conversely, based on its different sensors. This presentation will present the ETSI ARF standardized architecture for AR systems and the recently published specifications and available tools for providing a world representation and performing pose estimation on various AR devices. Pose estimation is achieved by combining the world representation with data from the device sensors and can be conducted locally or on a remote computing platform.
