Michael Philpott, Research Director, Service Provider Consumer, Omdia
With 25 years of experience in the telecommunications and digital media markets, Michael Philpott is Omdia’s leading analyst in the connected home area. As Research Director for service provider consumer, he delivers thought leadership to Omdia’s clients on digital home go-to-market strategy.

At Omdia, Michael produces reports, case studies, and forecasts in the areas of smart home, smart Wi-Fi and connected home, and broadband access strategy. He joined Omdia (formerly Ovum) in 2000 as a consultant in the networks and Infrastructure team, before moving to the analyst side of the business establishing and leading Ovum’s broadband, telco media, and smart home analyst services.

Before joining Omdia, he worked at BT’s research and development (R&D) laboratory, Adastral Park, designing xDSL and fibre optic access networks.

Dr. Marcus Brunner, Chief Expert for Enhanced Broadband (Huawei) and WBBA Working Group Chair, Huawei Technologies Switzerland
Dr. Marcus Brunner is Huawei’s chief expert for enhanced Broadband. He is currently involved in ETSI ISG F5G, a programme to define the fifth generation end-to-end fixed network with the vision to deploy fibre to everywhere. He is also chairing in the WBBA generational roadmap activities. He has 100+ publications and patents granted and is a long term contributor to various activities in the telecommunication industry including self-management, QoS, MPLS-TP, SDN, multiple generations of mobile networks (3G, 4G, 5G), and was a driver towards cloud-native operators based on ETSI NFV.

Dr. Omar Elloumi, Head of Standard Strategy, Nokia
Dr. Omar Elloumi is a Nokia Bell Labs Distinguished Member of Technical Staff. He held several technical and managerial positions with Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia. He’s currently with Nokia Strategy & Technology, leading an R&D team dealing with end to end standards strategy aspects, 5G and 6G for digital industries and IIoT. He also holds the position of Network Requirements and Capabilities working group within the Metaverse Standards Forum.

Dr. Emma Young, R&D Development Producer, BBC
Dr. Emma Young designs and produces new media experiences and audience trials, to inform BBC technology innovation and future content strategies. With extensive experience in Production and Technical Consultancy, and a Doctorate in Digital Innovation, she has a deep understanding of emerging technologies and their media applications. She specialises in Immersive Media (XR, VR, AR and Spatial Audio) and AI. Her current work focusses on AI for media personalisation; and live XR music experiences. Emma speaks at a wide range of events in academia and industry; is a member of the Steering Committee for the Audio Mostly conference; and sits on the Industry Advisory Board at Lancaster University. Passionate about Diversity and Inclusion, Emma recently completed a 2-year tenure as Chair of the Board for the ‘BBC Women in STEM’ (WiSTEM) staff network.
