SUMMARY:The Next Evolution of Open Spatial Internet
DESCRIPTION:The next evolution of the internet is spatial. \nMoving beyond traditional 2D web pages\, the open metaverse will organize digital experiences around physical and virtual 3D spaces. Mobile phones and AR glasses can view digital content anchored to the real world\, in the form of holographic museum exhibits\, interactive storefronts\, or instructions overlaid directly onto machinery. People can gather virtually in real or virtual spaces. \nTo ensure this spatial ecosystem remains open and interoperable\, allowing anyone to host and curate their own spatial content\, developers are building tools that avoid vendor lock-in. \nRecently\, RP1 open-sourced its metaverse fabric map server\, and Patched Reality introduced Manifolder\, a suite of tools for exploring and editing spatial scenes. Furthermore\, RP1 and the Metaverse Standards Forum launched the Open Metaverse Browser Initiative to standardize how we access spatial services across VR\, AR\, and mobile devices. Together\, these open-source efforts ensure the 3D internet will be shared and accessed by anyone\, rather than controlled by a single tech company. \nJoin us on May 6th to learn about the amazing potential of the internet’s growth into three dimensions. \nWhat’s The Format: \nWe will start with informal networking with demonstrations\, then host a panel discussion to answer audience questions. We’ll end with more networking and demonstrations. We keep it simple and informal – this meetup is about you\, our members\, and not just a soap box for the host\, presenters\, or our sponsors. Come and get your questions answered\, take your next step in Immersive Technology. \nAgenda\n\n5:30-6:15 PM Networking & Tech Demos\n6:15-6:30 PM Welcome Message\n6:30-7:10 PM Panelist Presentations\n7:10-7:45 PM Panel Discussion with Q&A\n7:45-8:30 PM Networking & Tech Demos\n\nHosts:\nPatrick O’Shaughnessey – Guest In-Person Host\nAugmented Reality Developer – Patched Reality \nMatt Wren – Backup In-Person Host\nFounder of The Next Evolution Nonprofit Event Series & VRAR Chicago \nCaroline Dennis – Virtual Host\nTwo-Degrees.io & XRWomen \nPanel Members:\nNeil Trevett\nPresident – Metaverse Standards Forum \nMore coming soon…

SUMMARY:New Tech Forum 2026
DESCRIPTION:On May 8th\, 2026\, p-NET Emerging Networks & Verticals launches the New Tech Forum\, a new annual initiative designed to bring together key stakeholders from technology\, policy\, industry\, academia\, and the creative sectors to explore emerging technologies and their real-world impact. \nForum Focus\nThe 2026 edition focuses on Intelligent Networks and Digital Twins\, highlighting the role of Private 5G\, Artificial Intelligence (AI)\, Extended Reality (XR)\, and Metaverse technologies across key sectors including smart cities\, culture and tourism\, industry\, defense\, space\, sports\, and gaming. \nDigital twins – real-time digital representations of physical systems – are rapidly becoming a foundational technology worldwide. They enable advanced monitoring\, simulation\, optimization\, and immersive experiences across the physical and digital worlds. While global adoption is accelerating\, Greece and the wider region still lack a coordinated\, strategic approach – an opportunity the New Tech Forum aims to actively address. \nWhy Attend?\nThe Forum will offer: \n\nStrategic perspectives on digital twins and intelligent network infrastructures\nReal-world use cases and applied examples from multiple sectors\nDialogue between public authorities\, industry leaders\, researchers\, and creative professionals\nA platform for collaboration\, knowledge exchange\, and future initiatives\n\nWho Should Attend?\nThe New Tech Forum 2026 is designed for professionals and decision-makers across sectors shaping the future of intelligent networks and digital twins\, including: \n\nPolicy makers and public sector leaders involved in digital strategy\, smart cities\, culture\, defense\, and innovation\nTechnology and telecom executives\, network operators\, and solution providers\nIndustry leaders and engineers exploring digital twins\, automation\, and advanced connectivity\nCreative professionals from film\, gaming\, XR\, fashion\, and digital arts\nResearchers\, academics\, and innovation hubs working on next-generation technologies\nStartups and scale-ups developing AI\, XR\, metaverse\, and digital twin solutions\nCultural\, tourism\, and heritage organizations leveraging immersive technologies\n\nRegister
